A Tryptic in Gold

“All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.”
| J.R.R. Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring

My tryptic “Gold”, published on foundation.app, is a critique of the capitalization of our world, the blind following of trends, the prioritization of one’s own financial advantages over a more sustainable world. With the purchase of these NFTs, the buyer quasi indirectly confirms to have become part of this movement. I do not expect these potential buyers to read these lines on my website in advance, to inform themselves about me as an artist and my intentions. I expect, on the contrary, that these NFTs will be seen merely as an investment object that can be uselessly thrown into a corner, discarded, and forgotten. It will lead to a soulless existence. And that is what they are created for.

Apart from a single initial message after the NFTs have been mined, I will not promote them in any way, nor will I chum up with potential buyers. Let them find their way or eternally eke out their existence.

Should these three NFTs sell, I will offset them, donate money and get involved with local sustainability initiatives through support work. Activities, I would also do without NFTs.
