| In 1997 the international automotive corporation Daimler presented their vision of city mobility. The car they introduced to the market was branded as Smart. It entered the market with the slogan “reduce to the max”. This slogan has accompanied me for a long while.
In photography I am always asking myself what to keep out of the photograph in order to give more focus on the essential. How to reduce it further to improve the impact it may has?
What a beautiful snowstorm it was at the Tête-de-Ran in de Swiss Jura, ice-crystals being smashed into one’s face. It was my idea to capture these snow dynamics against the backdrop of the black/white contrast. Reduced to the max.
